New specialty restaurants come to New Jersey

Flyer printing projects are no doubt underway to inform the community of Fair Lawn about the opening of two new eateries in town and nearby communities.

The owners of Benny’s Luncheonette, Diana and Pamela Stella, have expanded their offerings in a new shop, appropriately named Benny’s Bakery & Ice Cream Shoppe, two doors down from their current location.

Diana, who is a graduate of the International Culinary Center, does all the baking and needs more space for experimentation in a dedicated kitchen for baking. All baked goods for the restaurant will be made in house, and will also be available for sale to the general public. There will be a line of pies and cakes and a selection of homemade ice cream.

Krispy Pizza has also opened in Old Bridge, not far from Fair Lawn. Brothers Tony, Vinny, Al, and Freddy grew up in the business, which was started in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn 40 years ago by their father. In 2005, their pizza won the ‘Battle of the Borough’ at the New York Pizza Expo.

The pizzeria in Brooklyn is still run by Freddy and Al, while Vinny and Tony run the new pizzeria in Old Bridge. Grandma’s Pizza is their specialty pie; one with a thin crust, fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and a touch of basil. The menu also offers many favorite Italian dishes.
