Fair Lawn High School recently received three awards at the 2015 Metropolitan High School Theatre Awards program held on June 1 for its production of ‘A Man Of No Importance’.
According to director John Giresi, the show was nominated in 15 areas, including Trevor Braun for leading actor and Jon Zaken for supporting actor. It also received the nod in the areas of scenic design, costume design, graphic design, overall production, music direction, stage crew, and orchestra.
The awards were given to Sarah Gruber for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and to Elizabeth Collins on the flute for Outstanding Instrumentalist and Outstanding Lighting Design.
The competition also invites high schools in Rockland and Westchester counties in New York and Bergen County to participate. Performances at the awards ceremony included the nominees for actor and actress in a leading role, and nominees for outstanding overall production.
Prior to this, the high school had earned five awards in April at the Bucks County Playhouse Student Theatre Festival, including Braun for leading actor, Zaken for supporting actor, and director Giresi.
The students performed the musical four times in March. It is based on the 1994 film that starred Albert Finney and was written as a musical that ran off-Broadway in 2002.
The high school most likely turned to various flyer printing companies to let those in the school and community learn more about their accomplishments.
