Local theater company starts season with one-act plays

The resident theater company of the Fair Lawn Recreation Department, the Old Library Theatre, will launch its One Act Play Festival for the fifth consecutive year later this month.

Linda Wielkotz is the producer of the series, and Sheryl Heffernan is the assistant producer. The selections for the year include ‘Femme Noir’, ‘And Twice On Sunday’, ‘Off Grid’, ‘Leading Lady’, ‘Me and My Shadow’, and ‘How Will It Be?’.

‘Femme Noir’ is about a female private detective who solves her last case in Los Angeles in 1944, while closely related in subject matter is ‘And Twice on Sunday’ about two spies who meet in a park but focus so much on the task at hand that they miss all the clues.

‘Off Grid’ will strike home with the audience as it is about four friends at a dinner party who try to do without technology, while ‘How It Will Be?’ is about a groomsman looking to derail the wedding of a determined bride.

Performances will be at 8:00 pm on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, and at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 24. All performances take place at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in Fair Lawn.

The Fair Lawn Recreation Department may turn to various marketing services to promote this festival to theatergoers in the borough and surrounding communities.
