The Annual Dutch Christmas will be held at Garretson Forge and Farm, located at 4-02 River Road in Fair Lawn, in early December.
This event is free to the general public, and the farm has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The architecture of the house is Dutch colonial, and the farm practices simple traditional farming.
The event will have an appearance of the Dutch Santa called Sinter Klaas. He will visit with the children dressed in traditional Dutch costume, which includes a tall red hat with a gold trim, a long white beard, and a red and white cape.
The farm will be decorated for the traditional Dutch Christmas. Children leave their wooden clogs by the fireplace. The house will have wreaths, red ribbons, decorated Christmas trees, ornaments, and garlands.
The event will have a craft station demonstrating how to make traditional Christmas craft, and children are invited to participate. Crafts will be on sale like wreaths, ornaments, and herbal products. Baked goods will be available too and tours of the house will be given during the day.
