Two local banks have given the Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation (EDC) a grant of $20,000 to create a Planning Design Guideline (PDG) for Fair Lawn Avenue.
The Topps property and the Dollar Tree property along the street and near the train station have been designated by the Planning Board as needing redevelopment. The grounds and the buildings at both locations are in poor condition. There are several viable businesses on the Dollar Tree property while the Topps property has been vacant for 15 years. A Planning Design Guideline was deemed necessary by the EDC to redevelop these sites to align with the spirit of Fair Lawn.
The EDC will use these funds for hiring a qualified architectural, planning, and zoning consultant for the creation of a PDG for the two properties which are in the Radburn section of Fair Lawn, and encompass the street between Abbott Road and Route 208, and includes the area of the Radburn train station. Print shops can be used to Print materials of such plans as they develop to keep the community informed of progress on such projects.
Of the $20,000, $15,000 was donated by the Columbia Bank Foundation as part of the mission of the foundation to fund up to five grants in the community while the remaining funds were donated by the TD Charitable Foundation to support its mission of improving the lives of individuals in the diverse communities of the borough.
