The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the Main Street Program, representing the business community of the town, have together unveiled a local digital marketplace with 600 vendors.
The new website features products for those who want to work with local businesses or to shop locally. There is no charge for businesses using it.
Frank Hall, a member of the board, said the EDC was looking to reach several accomplishments with this website. One of the was that the EDC wanted to provide all businesses and organizations with an online presence. He said that some may not have their own website, so this will be one where people can find them. It provides an equal footing for everyone, with no ads or other paid posts to clutter the webpages, meaning to prominence to paying businesses.
Often, local Print shops create Flyers and other printed materials to inform residents of such new sources for finding local merchandise.
Hall also commented that Fair Lawn is a rather substantial community and there are business districts in many parts of town. This website will ensure that residents throughout town are aware of everything the area has to offer.
Finally, Hall said, this website demonstrates that Fair Lawn is a town that supports the local business community, helping new businesses fit right in.
