Fair Lawn to promote borough for film production

A new Subcommittee on Film and Television has been created by Fair Lawn Main Street, Inc.

Evelyne Cohen and her husband Alan, both residents of Fair Lawn, will be co-chairs of the subcommittee, and will no doubt want to get this information added to their Business Cards.

Ryan Greff, executive director of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc., said that the borough is truly fortunate that the efforts to enhance the position of the borough as a destination for television and movies will be led by Evelyne and Alan Cohen. Greff added that the Cohens have a great deal of experience in the entertainment industry that will be of great value to this effort.

The new subcommittee is the latest of the steps being taken by Fair Lawn to highlight what the borough can offer the film industry and studios. Fair Lawn was one of the first municipalities in North Jersey to be designated by the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission as a Film Ready Community. To become designated as such, towns need to undertake a five-step marketing and certification initiative to prepare them to handle television and film production more safely and efficiently.

The designation gives Fair Lawn access to an online location library for production companies, and to upload images and names of businesses useful for production companies. A Fair Lawn Film Festival is being planned by the subcommittee this year.
