A holiday light competition is being sponsored by Fair Lawn for All Ages, a committee in the borough.
The competition is now open, and residents are encouraged to decorate their homes in lights. Poster printing is often used through a community to encourage residents to participate in such contests.
After Wednesday, December 8, the community will be able to tour the town to see the lights and vote for their top five favorite homes. On Saturday, December 18, these five winners will receive a prize and then the panel of judges will vote on the grand prize winner.
The town is currently looking to put together this panel of judges, all of whom will be 65 years of age or older. These judges will tour the town on the Holly Trolley once the finalists in the competition have been selected, and will decide on the winner of the grand prize. The finalists will be able to bring a guest to the final judging, which will take place on Sunday, December 19.
Made possible by a grant from the Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation, Fair Lawn for All Ages (FLFAA) is an initiative designed to be age friendly. The mission of FLFAA is to provide resources and support programs to make the community a place where all residents will want to live as they grow older.
