Fair Lawn promotes two detectives to patrol division

The Patrol Division of the Fair Lawn Police Department now has three new detectives.

News of such promotions can be made known throughout a community with poster printing.

Acting Chief Joseph Dawicki said that this is “a matter for the history book.” Mayor Cristina Cutrone expressed her honor in being able to swear in the promotion of these officers. She also wished the three detectives to keep safe and the best of luck in their new positions serving the community of Fair Lawn.

One of the officers was Sergeant Geovanny Butron joined the department in 2016. He had been an Auxiliary Police Officer in Fair Lawn prior to that so he comes from the community and has been a volunteer in the department.

Lieutenant Sean Macys served in the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office prior to joining the Fair Lawn Police Department in 2005. He has served as a a detective sergeant, patrol sergeant, and patrol officer. Dawicki said that his expertise as a crash investigator will continue to benefit the department.

Captain Eric Leitman had worked as a Corrections Officer in the Bergen County Sheriff's Department prior to joining the department in 2004. He has served as a patrol sergeant and a patrol lieutenant and worked for a short time in the Detective Bureau as the Detective Lieutenant.
