Fair Lawn plans investments and updates in the borough

Memorial Pool in Fair Lawn will be updated as part of the newly adopted municipal budget for 2021.

The budget of $55.5m calls for many capital improvements throughout the borough. There will be a new splash park and two new water slides at Memorial Pool, enhancements to pedestrian safety, and updated commercial areas. Local Print shops often create Flyers and other materials that outline such planned improvements. Mayor Kurt Peluso said that the borough is looking forward to the updates that will result from the large investments made in the downtown areas.

Peluso said that not only have businesses not left the borough over the past year but new ones have opened. He said that investments in existing businesses will enable the construction of new walls, new planters, and adding to the outdoor facades. Fair Lawn has also applied for a grant from the Main Street Program of New Jersey, which would provide more funding.

Fair Lawn will also be focusing on pedestrian safety that will include additional crossing guards for the new school year, more crosswalks, and rapid repeaters, which are Signs that are illuminated and flash for drivers when a pedestrian is in a crosswalk.

Fair Lawn will also be expanding its summer concert series, adding two dog parks behind the DeJong Field baseball field, and renovating LaPoff playground.
