Jeremy Fine of Fair Lawn, a recent graduate and Fair Lawn High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 53, recently completed his Eagle Scout project.
Deriving inspiration from Mitchell Wensell, who built herb garden Boxes at the American Labor Museum in Haledon for his Eagle project, and being a proponent of fair labor laws, Fine decided to take the tables and workbenches there and clean them up and reinstall them.
He was able to see what the Museum, also known as the Botto House, was about, found it interesting, and saw that they needed some help.
Fine and over two dozen additional scouts and scout leaders built and installed the benches over a period of two days. Donations from families and friends enabled supplies to be purchased.
Fine commented that at the end, it was very fulfilling and everyone was very excited about the project. He might consider creating Flyers so that people who visit the Museum will know the history of the table and benches, and why Fine made this his Eagle Scout project.
On August 21, Fine will receive his Eagle Scout award in Fair Lawn at The Grange.
He plans to attend Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island in order to study culinary arts and earn a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or business.
