A new academic agreement between Bergen Community College and Montclair State University has been announced, enabling greater academic flexibility for students.
Under the new agreement, students who earn their associate degree can seamlessly transfer their credits and complete their baccalaureate degree at Montclair State. This may be of interest to students living in Fair Lawn who are currently attending Bergen Community College or are thinking of doing so.
Jonathan Koppell, president of Montclair State, said that this partnership will remove many barriers for students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree. He added that the University is looking forward to welcoming even more students from the community college and enabling them to succeed at the University and in their professional careers.
There will be financial aid available to students who meet eligibility and income requirements. The Community College Opportunity Grant covers the cost of their education for the first two years, while the Garden State Guarantee can provide financial assistance for their final years at Montclair State. Brochure printing is often one way to provide more details on such opportunities for students.
Eric M. Friedman, president of Bergen Community College, which is the largest such college in the state, said that the college has always endeavored to maintain robust transfer agreements with other four-year colleges. He suggested it is important that these agreements be reviewed on a periodic basis so that they can be enhanced to benefit students.
