The Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, a short distance west of Fair Lawn, will be the host to the Popovich Pet Theater later this month with a family show featuring rescue dogs, cats, geese, parrots, and mice.
In addition, Bergen County Protect and Rescue, an animal welfare facility and shelter that keeps all its animals alive, is collaborating with the Bergen Performing Arts Center to collect donations for its shelter in honor of Popovich throughout this month.
A fifth generation circus performer, Gregory Popovich learned early in his life how to develop strong bonds with animals and has taken rescue animals from shelters and made them into stars. His show is a combination of juggling, physical comedy, and the talents of more than 30 performing pets.
For those who cannot make the show, the shelter is also accepting gift cards for pet and supply stores, as well as monetary donations. It is also happy to take specific items like collars, leashes, and blankets for dogs, or cardboard scratchers, food and water bowls, and plastic carriers for cats.
