Aviation museum receives grant for operations

A grant from the state of New Jersey has been awarded to the Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum of New Jersey in Teterboro. Residents of Fair Lawn who enjoy aviation, planes, and history will want to visit this museum.

The New Jersey Historical Commission has given $5,000 to the museum to be used for expanding virtual history services and programs to teachers, students, parents, and the public and for maintaining critical services, such as staff, security costs, and collections. The museum was one of 46 historical institutions across the state that shared in the total amount of $230,000. Funds like this one can also help with promoting the benefits and exhibits at such museums with poster printing services.

Executive Director of the museum, Ralph Villecca, Sr., said the museum closed in March 2020 but reopened four months later and was one of the first museums in the state to do so. He said that it was challenging to reopen at the time as the layout of the museum had to re-configured, an online reservation system was implemented, and only 15 people could visit the museum at any one time.

Villecca added that the grant will help the viability of the museum and to keep it open. The goal of the museum is to serve as an inspiration to the next generations of aviators, engineers, and space explorers.
