The Englewood Public Library will host an environmental awareness concert this April in Englewood.
The name of the event is “The Seas Are Rising,” deriving from the album of the same name produced by the concert’s headlining act, Dan Sheehan, and his band. Sheehan's album aims to call attention to the urgency of the climate crisis and the environmental extremes already affecting people globally.
The show features stories of people affected by the rapidly changing climate, such as the Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean and some of the Southern U.S. states. In addition, the show will present the tales of those who are directly affected by human activities such as deforestation and land development. These include marginalized groups such as the indigenous peoples of South America and groups in Africa. It will further highlight islands under threat from sea levels rising.
The concert is being sponsored by the Friends of the Englewood Library, and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets to this free event. Flyer printing can be a useful way to spread information for events like this and encourage attendance.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 29 at the library, the address of which is 31 Engle Street Englewood. The event will begin at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.
