Course teaches trauma care for Englewood youth

A course plans to give healthcare providers the skills required to help young people in dire medical situations.

The course is available exclusively to healthcare professionals, and participants must provide a copy of their current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card.

The program has been updated to align with the 2010 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). It is designed to equip healthcare providers with the necessary skills and knowledge to assess and manage critically ill infants and children in emergency situations. The course focuses on recognizing shock, cardiac arrest, and respiratory distress, as well as implementing life-saving actions as quickly as possible. Participants will be trained to stabilize pediatric patients before they are transferred to a hospital.

The AHA supports the development of proficiency in all its courses and has created instructional materials to assist in training. However, the use of these materials in educational settings does not imply the AHA’s direct sponsorship. Course fees, except for portions allocated to AHA materials, do not contribute to AHA revenue. Printing services are typically used to put together course materials.

Refunds are available up to seven days before the scheduled event. Online registration for the course will close two weeks prior to the training date.

The Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization Course will take place on March 6th at the EMS Training Center in Englewood.
