East Hanover area horticultural talk to teach native plants

This July, The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown will host the horticultural presentation called “American Originals: The native plants and extraordinary plant developments that America has shared with the world, with Barbara Melera.”

Likely to be ideal for any plant and history buffs in the Morristown and East Hanover areas, the talk will be presented by Barbara Melera, who is president of Harvesting History Heirlooms, LLC and former president and CEO of The D. Landreth Seed Company, which is the oldest seedhouse in the country. Her three-part lecture will explore how native plants in the US have made great contributions to the rest of the world, and how American horticulture played a unique role in the founding of the county.

Attendees will learn about a few of the native species that have been an integral part of gardens around the globe, three of the most influential American plant developments that have affected all gardens, and how little research as actually been done to detail the important contributions American native plants have made to the horticultural field.

Educational lectures like this may provide attendees with printed Brochures or pamphlets detailing important lecture points. Organizers can receive help printing these at local Print shops specializing in brochure printing services.

The native plant talk is slated for Wednesday, July 7 beginning at 1:00 pm. The arboretum is located at 353 East Hanover Avenue, Morris Township, just a few miles from East Hanover.
