The Morris County Park Commission will hold the Be Bear Aware Program this March in East Hanover to educate the public on how to react during bear encounters.
The Morris County Park Commission is the largest county park system in the state, with the agency overseeing over 20,520 acres of parkland, 20,421 of which are accessible to the public. The agency offers 39 facilities that include historic sites, arboreta, outdoor recreational and educational areas, and over 265 miles of hiking trails. The park hosts award-winning programs and activities of which the wildlife program in March is a part.
The Be Bear Aware Program will teach attendees best practices and helpful knowledge on how to conduct themselves should they encounter a bear in the wild. There will be an interactive media presentation, a simulation activity, and touchable artifacts to facilitate the event. Attendees will learn about the black bear’s life cycle, history, adaptions, and dietary needs.
Educational programs like this will often make use of physical learning materials, such as descriptive Posters, that can help students learn the desired information. Local Print shops offering poster printing services can be of help to organizers needing to Print these in bulk.
The bear program is slated for March 31 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be held at the Morris County Public Library, Public Meeting Room, 30 East Hanover Avenue.
