Prom season is fast approaching, and a Cherry Hill initiative will give gently used formal attire another chance to party.
The project Prom Donation Drive is running throughout January and much of February at the Cherry Hill Public Library, and a wide assortment of clothing will be accepted, provided they are clean and in good repair.
Cocktail gowns and dresses, wraps, shawls, and extra hangers are all welcome. The organizers will also accept vests and suit jackets, bowties and other ties, dress pants and shirts, suspenders, cummerbunds, and other attire. Among the items not accepted are hair accessories, shoes, purses, and jewelry.
All items brought can be dropped off at the Youth Services Desk. They will be distributed for free starting in early March on a first come, first served basis. A change tent will be set up on site for the occasion.
A donation drive like this may be especially successful when it is heavily promoted, and a poster printing company will be able to help here. It can prepare a variety of materials to post in prominent locations in a community.
The Project Prom Donation Drive began last Monday, January 5, and continues until February 23. The clothing will be distributed to the public starting on March 3. More details about the program can be found on the library’s website.
