Pottery course brings new skills to North Conway

A pottery clinic will visit North Conway next month, and individuals seeking tips and methods for completing handles on mugs and other pieces will want to attend.

The Handle Clinic, hosted by Stuart Webb, will begin in a few weeks. It will provide an environment for individuals wanting to learn more pottery basics to enhance their skill sets. Webb will focus on teaching attendees the best techniques for pulling and attaching handles to pieces of pottery.

During the two-hour, in-person course, attendees will learn how to add handles to mugs, bowls, and other pieces. Pulling, attachment, and shaping techniques will ensure all guests leave the clinic with the ability to finish pieces made at home. The course does not include clay or firing, though participants with an Open Studio membership can access the tools to finish pieces. Brochure printing is an effective way to catalog techniques at artisanal clinics like this.

Attendees who want to fire their pieces will need to pay additional fees to proceed. The course is designed to accommodate teens and adults, and the ideal skill set is beginner or intermediate. Full tuition is expected upon reserving a spot in the clinic.

The North Conway League of NH Craftsmen will host the clinic on Tuesday, July 9th, beginning at 5:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM. Tickets cost $30 per person and can be purchased online.
