North Conway families seeking nearby educational opportunities to share with their children this summer are in luck, as a program on local wildlife is coming up on the calendar.
The Get Closer to Nature experience will be taking a closer look at local wildlife through the Live Animals of NH Wildlife educational program, which is being organized by the Conway Public Library. Starting next month, the experience will be led by a Squam Lake Natural Science Center naturalist, and guests will get to meet and learn about three live animals native to New Hampshire’s forests, wetlands, and fields.
The naturalist will provide information about the role these creatures play in their local ecosystems, and their traits and attributes that make them well-suited to New Hampshire’s climate and terrain. In addition to the three animals that will be part of the program, guests will have the chance for random encounters with others, such as woodchucks, turtles, owls, raptors, and porcupines. It is suitable for guests of all ages.
