Old growth forest walk spreads knowledge near North Conway

An experienced forester and silviculturist is preparing to lead interested parties into the forests near North Conway to educate attendees.

The NH Old-Growth Forest Walk with David Govatski, sponsored by Friends of the Library, will embark next month, taking guests into one of the few old growth forests in the state of New Hampshire. The presentation will focus on the unique characteristics of different types of flora, fauna, and trees along the walking route. Govatski will also explain the ecological attributes and the wildlife that call these forests home.

The tour will culminate in a visual tour of the areas of the forest where the oldest trees have put down roots. Govatski has 33 years of experience as a forester for the United States Forest Service. He has visited old growth forests across the Lower 48 States and Alaska. Brochure printing is a fantastic way to share new information with attendees at such events to prevent information overload.

The walk will be held outdoors, and registered guests will want to check the weather and dress for the conditions. Bringing water and snacks is also encouraged.

Interested parties can meet at 15 Greenwood Avenue in nearby Conway on Wednesday, April 30. The walk will embark at 6:00 PM. Registration is free and available via the Eventbrite listing.
