North Conway to offer ice climbing course
Winter brings its own set of outdoor activities, and North Conway residents who have always wanted to give ice climbing a try have a weekend-long workshop to look forward to.
Be Outdoors, a local club that fosters outdoor sport and recreation, will be offering a class on the fundamentals of ice climbing. Intended for first-timers, the instruction will be supplied by facilitators who are experienced climbers.
The registrants will begin their learning by becoming familiar with the equipment used, including how to maintain it. After this, the instruction will shift to climbing techniques. The organizers have said participants should have a least some experience in snowshoeing, hiking or skiing. They will be asked to supply their own helmet, harness, belay device, boots, technical ice axes, and crampons, but they may be able to rent any items they do not already have.
Attending a learning experience like this can help those who enjoy being outdoors discover a new form of winter fun. Any business forms needed to help take care of the administrative side of the activity can be designed and printed by area stationery printers.
Be Outdoors has made plans to offer this two day workshop starting on February 27, and it will continue on February 28. Anyone who would like to take part is encouraged to sign up quickly, as space is limited, and the location will be released to them closer to the date.
