North Conway hosts annual chili event
The recent chilly weather meant that was once again time for a popular North Conway event that warms up the insides.
In late February, the community hosted its 13th Chilly Chili Cookoff. Nearly 40 cooks, professional and nonprofessional alike, served up their very best, along with other treats such as freshly baked cornbread. The styles ranged from the very mild to the extremely spicy.
The food was not the only outlet for their creativity; the booths set up by cooks to showcase their offerings were also judged, and there was a prize for the very best.
Along with the chili and cornbread, there were opportunities for the public to browse through all that the community’s retailers have to offer. Many of them had special prices in place for the day. Poster printing can be used to help promote events like this throughout the community, letting the public know when and how they can take part.
The event took place in the new Community Center and Gibson Center. The division for professional chefs was held in the Gibson Center, while the people who cook just for the love of it had their chili judged at the North Conway Community Center. The winners in this grouping received People’s Choice awards.
Tickets for adults were priced at $15, while those for children ages 12 and under were $7, with those under three admitted free of charge.
