North Conway cyclists ride to support their library
Pleasant weather and enthusiastic participants combined to make this year’s North Conway Library’s Bike For Books a success.
More than 90 members of the public came out to take part, and all told, they were able to raise $6,000, which will go towards making improvements to the children’s room at the library. Almost half of those who chose to participate were doing so for the very first time.
The route the bike riders took ran from North Conway and wound its way through the countryside. There were several choices of paths the participants could follow, and they were given maps at the start to help them on their way. For those who were looking for more of a challenge, there were side trials where they could put their mountain biking skills to the test.
According to Library Director Andrea Masters, it was a beautiful day for a bike ride, and she got some very positive feedback from those who came out. They were excited about the new trails, as well as the signage that was used. This can be produced by a local printing company.
Chris Krug, who works with Eastside Nike Guides and laid out this year’s courses, pointed out that that the area offers some great opportunities for cyclists, and events like this help to give it exposure and encourage people to come out and enjoy it for themselves.
