Locals to stay up late for race
Night owls in North Conway can take part in a late night race in just under a month’s time.
The Midnight Owl 15K takes runners on a 9.3-mile course through gentle hills, beginning at Schouler Park and finishing at the Ham Arena.
The race is a prediction run and participants can choose their own start time based how long they think it will take them to complete the course. The first five runners who finish the race after midnight will receive an award. All finishers will be given a medal.
Since the race is at night, runners will need to wear reflective gear and use flashlights or headlamps. For $12, reflective vests are available for purchase online and at the race.
Water stops will be available at roughly two-and-a-half-mile intervals. After the race, there will be refreshments at the finish line.
Registration costs $45 plus a processing fee. Those who register before July 14 will be guaranteed a shirt. The event organizers probably used a postcard printing service to make a direct mailer to inform the community about the run.
Packup pickup will take place on August 1 from 8:00 pm until 10:30 pm at Schouler Park, located at Main Street and White Mountain Highway. A shuttle bus will be available to transport participants and spectators from the start to the end of the race, and vice versa.
The course will be open on August 1 from 9:30 pm until shortly after midnight.
