Wildlife photography on show in Durham

The Durham Museum in Omaha is hosting an exhibit by well-known nature photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen called Life in the Wild. It has 40 photographs of wildlife and its struggle to survive in their natural environment.

The museum is located at 801 S 10th Street, and has a two-level parking garage that is free to use.

Mangelsen traveled throughout the world for over 40 years taking photos in wild exotic locations. He photographed bears, elephants, eagles, lions, and other exotic species. He has been to many locations, including the Arctic, Africa, and jungles of South America. The world premiere of Life in the Wild depicts animals fighting, hunting for food, and daily activities.

One of Thomas D. Mangelsen’s most know photos called Catch of the Day was taken in 1988 in Alaska. It shows a brown bear by a stream fishing with a sockeye salmon flying towards his open mouth.

The 40 photographs are from the ‘Legacy Reserve’ depicting a varied selection of photos he took over a 40-year career. Omaha has Print shops that can design Promotional Products for exhibits like this.

Mangelsen has been named BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year by the North American Nature Photography Association. His work has appeared in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

The exhibit began September 1 and will run until January 6. The museum has a Soda Fountain and Candy Shop that serves lunch, ice cream, and candy.
