Omaha community unites for annual run

Omaha’s trail running community will gather this October for the GOATz Trail Runs at Glenn Cunningham Lake.

This is an annual endurance event benefiting local causes. Hosted by the Greater Omaha Area Trail Runners (GOATz), its proceeds will support trail maintenance, cross-country programs, and various community initiatives.

The event features five race distances: 50 miles, 50 kilometers, 21 miles, 10.5 miles, and 5 miles. All races begin near the marina at the west end of the lake’s main parking area. The trail-based course consists primarily of grass and dirt surfaces.

Two aid stations, located at the start or finish and mid-loop, will provide hydration and food. Runners are required to carry personal hydration devices. Drop Bags may be left at the main station. Only spectators may enter the marina because of limited parking elsewhere on the course:

Entry fees range from $100 for the 50-mile race down to $40 for the 5-mile option, and increase a little if not purchased before the end of August. Registration is capped at 500 participants. All runners registering by September 26th will receive a race T-shirt.

When attempting to making the end and start points of the different races for events such as this, a banner printing company can be a useful partner.

The event takes place Sunday, October 19, beginning at 3 pm at Glenn Cunningham Lake Marina, 8965 State Street, Omaha.
