Physicians receive prep training in Omaha

The University of Nebraska Medical Center will host a one and a half day Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor Course this April.

The curriculum emphasizes modern teaching strategies, including scenario-based instruction and student engagement techniques. Participants will develop their ability to facilitate learning, moving beyond traditional lecture methods to a more interactive, mentor-focused approach. The program aligns with the teaching framework of the 10th volume of the ATLS Student Course, ensuring a seamless transition for new instructors.

To qualify, attendees must have finished an ATLS Provider Course in the last three years and been deemed instructor candidates. If not pre-designated, a letter of recommendation from a present ATLS Instructor can serve as an alternative qualification.

The course fee is $300. This fee will cover instructor materials and lunch. Due to limited enrollment, cancellations will be assessed a $100 fee. Requests made less than 14 days before the event will incur a transfer fee. Participants must return course materials within one week to receive a refund. No-shows forfeit their registration fee.

Print shops may be used by organizers to provide course materials for attendees of events such as this one.

The event will take place from April 10th to 11th at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The Specific event location will be disclosed at a later date. Sessions will run from 7:30 am to 6 pm on the first day and 7:30 am to 1 pm on the second.
