Terrariums have been enjoyed by home horticulturists for hundreds of years, and a Omaha workshop will walk its registrants through the steps of preparing one of these gardens under glass for their own home or workplace.
Lauritzen Garden has set aside a Saturday afternoon in mid-July for a terrarium building workshop. Many of the materials used will be natural and picked by hand, and everyone will be able to use them to create their own personalized planting.
The group will receive all the supplies they need for their project, and they will be using plants that do well together and have similar cultural requirements. Registrants will also learn how to care for their terrarium, and with some luck and careful attention, they may be able to enjoy theirs for many years to come. The session has a run time of two hours, and both garden members and the general public are welcome.
To help the organizers prepare for the activity, its registration will close a week ahead of its scheduled date. Plant care tip sheets can be prepared for a gardening or other horticultural class by area Stationery printers.
This chance to craft a personalized mini-garden under glass will be on offer on July 15. It will kick off at 2:00 pm at 100 Bancroft Street. Tickets start at $35 each.
