Omaha theater unveils spring/summer program

The Rose Theater in Omaha, a historical children’s theater, features a selection of performances for April, May, and June.

Located at 2001 Farnam Street, Books and souvenirs are available for purchase in the lobby before most performances. Parking is available in the Douglas Street Parking Garage.

It starts with Broken Mirror, which plays on April 5 and 7 at 7:00 pm and April 8 at 4:30 p.m. Running for one hours and aimed at ages 13 and up, the play is about teen girls and uses comedy, music, poetry, and improv.

Curious George is performed April 20 to May 6 for one hour at varying times. In the play, the title character goes on a whirlwind adventure to Europe to help his chef friend with the Golden Meatball culinary competition. It is suited for ages four and up, and there is no intermission.

The Young Playwright Festival showcases the writing of the promising teen writers at the theater. It features drama, comedy, and romance, and plays on May 11 and 12 at 7:00 pm and May 13 at 5:30 pm.

Disney Newsie is performed June 1 through 17 for two hours at varying times. During intermission cookies, soda, and bottled water are sold. It tells the story of a newsboy’s dreams of life as an artist in the big city. With music, dancing, and adventure, it is suited for ages six and up.
