One Tree Planted has a goal of restoring local environments through a variety of hands-on projects, and one of its activities is on the agenda for Omaha this spring.
The Big Garden has partnered with the not-for-profit organization to offer the community an opportunity to roll up their sleeves and pitch in with a tree planting activity. Suitable clothing – including closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a hat – are recommended, and everyone may also want to bring along sunscreen, water, and snacks.
Participants will be installing 10 fruit trees and also brambles that grow edible small fruits. The helpers will be asked to prepare the site, dig holes, and add special nutrients to give the trees a good start. The task will be completed by adding mulch and water, and while they work, the attendees can enjoy one another’s company.
A community service project can be great fun for the participants, and also encourage the public to become stakeholders in the activity. A flyer printing company can help to spread the word about an upcoming event, and may represent an economical choice for a charitable group.
The Big Garden Campus, which is located at 5602 Read Street in Omaha, will be benefiting from this activity on April 2. Everyone who registers is asked to arrive by 10:00 am.
