Eastern Red Cedar is an invasive species in Omaha and the surrounding region. An upcoming class will use wood from these trees for a special project that will be naturally resistant to rot and attack from insect pests.
There are 15 spots available in the Roundwood Framing Workshop that will be offered by Omaha Permaculture. The class will gain hands-on experience by helping with the construction of a project which will be installed on one of the organizer’s properties.
During the event, the learners will participate in all of the steps needed to transform the raw materials into the completed item. They will help peel the bark, treat the wood with fire to help preserve it, create footings and foundations, take part in basic female and male joinery, and then assemble the frame.
Those who register for the activity are asked to bring boots, gloves, lunch, and a refillable water bottle. The registration fee is $10, and this will be used to purchase ingredients that will be used for the dinner cookout that held once the class is over. An event like this can be a popular activity, and a flyer printing company can craft marketing materials for the occasion that are both effective and economically priced.
This workshop, which will take an invasive species and transform it into something useful, will be offered on July 27. The location of the activity will be 3362 Patrick Avenue.
