Omaha residents can enjoy the latest local bands

The Omaha Public Library and Hear Nebraska have partnered together to make locally crated music more available.

Download Nebraska will give those who use it a chance to enjoy offerings from 60 artists. There will be 50 albums that feature hundreds of individual songs, and it is all being made available free of charge.

It has taken two years to get the project off the ground, and Hear Nebraska’s executive director Andrew Norman has said he is very happy with the final result and the support it will give to local musicians.

After they register for the site using their library card, they will have free access to it, and they can sort through the items on it by selecting a music genre or the name of the band or artist. It can be accessed on mobile devices or home computers alike.

Each of the musical groups that have their work on the site were paid a small fee, and Hear Nebraska included a variety of musical styles so there would be something to suit everyone’s individual taste. A poster printing firm can design and create promotional materials that get the word to the community about a project like this.

Funding for the project has been provided by the Omaha Public Library Foundation, which revives its funds through a variety of donations made by the public.

The plan is for new songs to be added to the site a few times a year, so that there is always something fresh to choose from.
