Omaha residents have their pick of several autumn and Halloween-themed venues this October, with at least seven pumpkin patches and almost a dozen spooky Halloween museums/haunted houses.
The largest is Vala's Pumpkin Patch, which features more than 50 themed attraction on its acreage, southwest of Omaha off I-80. Included is a mini-train ride, haunted farmhouse, corn maze, and a jack-o-lantern tree.
There is also an “Apple Blaster” feature, where visitors can shoot apples at targets. Every Friday, Vala's features a fireworks display. Admission is about $13 on weekdays and $24 on weekends.
When it comes to haunted houses, the city of Plattsmouth, Nebraska boasts the Most Haunted Museum in the World. The Museum of Shadows is open Wednesdays through Sundays, with an admission of $15.
The museum is in an old house that was built in 1881, and according to its website, has more than 3,000 “verified haunted artifacts”. Plattsmouth is just south of Omaha. The museum is open all-year round, but of course the Halloween season is when it is most popular.
Themed events and venues like the ones around Omaha can make great use of printing services for items such as maps and coupons to hand out to visitors.
For those who prefer gardens and gourds to ghosts and ghouls, there is always the Skinny Bones Pumpkin Patch, which offers a giant, 10-acre corn maze. The location also features a market, petting zoo and the country's tallest indoor tornado simulator. Admission is $11 - $15.
Many of these venues close for the season on Halloween, which is Thursday, October 31.
