In temperate forests, plants known as ephemerals spring to life before the trees leaf out. These species, which are often hidden on the forest floor, will be the stars of an upcoming Omaha event.
Lauritzen Gardens has made arrangements to offer a Spring Ephemerals Garden Tour, which will acquaint local nature lovers with some of its spring bloomers. It is open to both members and non-members, although a discounted ticket price will be available to the gardens’ membership.
Attendees at the function will hop aboard the tram for the tour, which will be making many stops along the way. Participants will be led to patches of these spring plants such as bluebells, blood roots and shooting stars, and they will learn about their life cycle and how they sprout, grow, and flower quickly in the spring before the light is blocked by the leaves of trees overhead.
A garden tour may appeal to both nature lovers and home horticulturalists alike. Maps and other learning materials for a guided tour can be crafted by Stationery printers, which can also offer promotional Pens for taking notes.
This salute to some of spring’s hidden plant gems will depart from 100 Bancroft Road on April 18. Tickets start at $10 per visitor, and the start time for this activity planned for plant lovers is 5:30 pm.
