Omaha birders invited to early September outing

Fall is on the way, which means that many species of birds will be stopping in Omaha on their way south, and an excursion has been planned that will see them in their home environment.

The Audubon Society of Omaha has organized a birding outing at Oberman Bird Sanctuary and also the city’s Arboretum, and both Lauritzen Garden members and the general public are encouraged to take part. Those interested are asked to sign up well ahead of the event, and tickets for the excursion start at $5.00.

This guided hike will visit several locations in the sanctuary and arboretum, and the facilitator will point out the various species that are seen. The focus will be on migrating birds, and everyone is asked to bring their binoculars and wear clothing that is suitable for the weather and the activity at hand. Anyone with questions has been asked to call 402-346-4002.

An event like this gives those who are new to birding a chance to get their feet wet while also giving experienced birders a way to brush up on their ID skills. Promotional Postcards, Flyers and other mailers can be prepared by a printing services company to send out to the area, letting residents know where and when the activity will be held.

The Audubon Society of Omaha will be hosting this Migrating Bird Hike on September 11th. Everyone who registers is asked to meet at 100 Barcroft Street at 11:00 am on the day of the excursion.
