Omaha area hosts World's Flattest Marathon

It is a claim to fame that may attract runners from all over the United States: ‘The Flattest Closed Road Marathon in the World’.

That's how the organizers of the first ever Valley 7 Marathon are describing their upcoming, certified race, which is still scheduled at the time of writing.

There is a full marathon, half marathon, and marathon relay. Five-hour time limits apply for racers, and aid stations with water and portable washrooms are every five kilometers.

What sets this marathon apart from many others is the course itself. It is purposefully designed to give runners their best shot at making their personal best times. The course takes advantage of the flat topography of the area and the wide country roads. A 33 foot elevation gain has this course recognized as the “Flattest Closed Road Marathon in the World”. The roads will be fully dedicated to the runners on race-day, and runners will have to contend with a mixture of bicycle paths, or sidewalks, or narrow foot trails.

The main sponsor of the event is Fathom Realty. Local Print shops can help in races such as these to provide start/finish line Banners, promotional materials for sponsors and other signage.

The first annual Valley 7 Lakes Marathon and Half Marathon is scheduled to take place Saturday, April 25. Start time is 6:20 am. The start/finish line is in the City of Valley, just minutes west of Omaha.
