The Bemis Underground $100 Art Sale will take place on June 8th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $10; all proceeds go towards supporting the Bemis Underground programs and exhibitions.
The art sale will feature artworks by regional artists and every work of art will be on sale for $100. Raffle tickets will also be available for $10. This will be the perfect chance to find some unique and original art by new and upcoming artists.
This would be a great opportunity for local corporations to support local artists by buying several artworks to display in their offices; they won’t often get the chance to purchase original works of art for such a low price. Those who work for Omaha printing companies and show up at the sale may even discover new artists who they will want to work with in the future. Many of the greatest artists such as Andy Warhol developed their talents by working as commercial artists and most contemporary artists have had to rely on working as commercials artists or illustrators to pay the bills.
The Beamis Center for Contemporary Arts offers several community arts programs as well as a residency program for artists. Artists accepted into the residency program are provided with studio space, living accommodations and a monthly stipend. The center also works with artists, organizations, schools and businesses to empower the local community to give thought to various contemporary issues. One current exhibition is Out of In Focus: Alex Borovski + Lonnie Potter.
