Action-packed schedule ahead at Omaha museum

The Omaha Children’s Museum is offering special events throughout spring and summer for children. The location is on 500 South 20th Street.

On May 12 and 26 at 11:00 am, the Kids on the Block Puppet Show will perform in the Family Discovery Room. It introduces children to those with special needs using a question-and-answer period and puppet play. The theme for these two show is blindness.

On May 12, Harry Potter Family Night will be performed from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be exciting activities like Quiddich tryouts, owl encounters, and a special science show. The event is suitable for all ages.

On May 26, at 9:00 am, active folks can participate in Ninjas on the Run Family Fun Nite to start the summer early. Participants will run along 20th Street and costumes are encouraged.

A special exhibit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Secrets of the Sewer opens on May 26 and runs until September 2. The exhibit teaches teamwork and collaboration. Children will work their way through mazes, puzzles, and obstacles at the exhibit.

The Children’s China: Celebrating Culture, Character and Confucius exhibit will open May 26 until August 19, and is intended for children ages 3 to 12. The exhibit explores holidays, endangered species, health and fitness, a daily dragon parade, paper cutting, and stories about Confucius.

The museum offers free parking, food, and drink at the Rainbow Café, as well as a museum store.
