A major anniversary will take place in 2026 for a Raleigh group. An event will be taking place at a local venue to kick off the month.
Paint the Parks: En Plein Air Celebration is an event marking the 50th year of operations for the Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space systems. Guests will create pieces of art that will become part of an exhibit. The display will travel between the parks within Wake County starting in July and ending in December.
Depending on how many paintings are submitted, there may end up being a juried selection process. Each artist will need to provide a frame for their work if it’s needed.
Those looking to paint can choose any spot around the Historic Oak View County Park, with the exception of private and indoor areas. They are also asked to not block any facilities. The biggest size allowed is 16”x20”. The subject of the paintings should relate to the park itself.
Artists wishing to be included in the exhibit need to bring their pieces to Beech Bluff County Park prior to June 15th.
Attending and participating in the Raleigh event is free. Guests can find information on the website for United Arts Wake County. Many locally run events will turn to flyer printing as a promotion technique. Artists can work in the park between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm.
