What's Happening in Raleigh, NC…

Raleigh plans pottery and planting combo

An activity that brings pottery and plants together has been organized in Raleigh, and the attendees will each create their own custom pot for their new green friend.

Each registrant in the Pottery and Plants workshop series, which is for those age 16 and up, will be making their own pottery container using basic hand-building techniques. Once it is ready for use, they can pick up a free plant to install. Rebecca Booker will be the instructor for what is intended to be a straightforward introduction to the hobby, where no previous experience is necessary.

The two-part class will begin with pottery building, and Booker will walk everyone through the process of building their bowl. Once they are ready, the pieces will be collected and fired. The second installment will see the attendees glaze their project, then they will be fired for a final time. Ticketholders can pick them up and head to Copperline Plant Co. to choose their free plant.

A workshop provides those who participate with an opportunity to learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment. Organizers often turn to local stationery printers to supply them with copies of handouts and other learning materials.

This combination of pottery making and planting will begin on Saturday, November 1. Artspace, which is located at 201 East Davie Street, will be the venue for the classes.
