The International Bluegrass Music Association Awards will be held in Raleigh on October 2, but bluegrass fans are already preparing for the event.
Bluegrass lovers spent Wednesday, August 13, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to see the nominations for the IBMA awards, and to enjoy bluegrass music. Nominations were streamed live from Franklin, Tennessee. After the nominees were announced, attendees moved to the Daily Planet Cafe, located in the museum, to listen to Diamond Creek, a local bluegrass band.
The awards are only one part of an event known as the IBMA World of Bluegrass, which is slated to take place in Raleigh from September 30 through October 4, in the city's downtown. Among the scheduled events are an IBMA business conference (set to run September 30 to October 2), the awards ceremony on October 2, and ‘Wide Open Bluegrass’, which is a collection of free and ticketed events.
Also on the agenda is the Bluegrass Ramble, a series of performances held at six stages throughout Raleigh. People are encouraged to “ramble” from venue to venue to hear the performers. This year, for the first time, a shuttle bus will run continuously among the venues and the city's hotels.
Festival organizers could start now by working with a flyer printing company to Print handouts for attendees that show where the Ramble stages are located, and the schedule of performances.Get a Free Quote for Print
