Artistic Raleigh residents are invited to take a tour that will teach them all about the history of Raleigh’s public art and murals.
This tour will take patrons to see some of the best artwork Raleigh has to offer. The tour focuses primarily on the large-scale creative murals in Raleigh, although some exceptions will be made for cool public art installations. The guides will educate the guests on the history behind the works and what makes them special.
The tour tends to last for about 90 minutes. It will start at 300 S. Salisbury Street at the entrance for the Wake County Justice Center. The tour will end about half a block away from the starting point. No stops will be made for food, drink, or trips to the restroom. Flyer printing can be used to promote such tours.
Guests who have Android phones can download an app called Abstracted Motion, which can be used on the tour to get more information about certain art installations. As yet, the app is unavailable on Apple devices.
The tour is operated on a donation basis. Most donations are between $10-$20, although guests are encouraged to compensate their guides based on how much they enjoyed the tour. Advance registration is required to ensure that enough spaces are available.
The tour will be held on June 4 and June 25, and starts at 10:30 am.
