Walking tour to highlight Raleighs murals and public art

Raleigh Walking Tours will hold a tour of Raleigh’s downtown art next month. The event will allow locals to explore and understand the murals in the city’s public spaces.

The tour begins at the Wake County Justice Center and will move through Raleigh’s downtown area. The guide will direct participants' attention to some of the city’s large-scale murals and other public art. Entrants will discover the people behind these works of art and the motivations that inspired their creation. Also, events like these often employ Print shops to provide additional informational material.

Entrants are encouraged to bring cameras so they can take photos of the different stops along the way. Anyone with an Android phone can also download the “Abstracted Motion” app, which allows participants to view some of the murals from a new perspective.

All participants must pre-register on Eventbrite ahead of time. The event allows entrants to pay however much they want to their guide. Organizers recommend each adult giving $15 to $20, but participants can give any amount they wish.

Participants can find the tour start point at 300 South Salisbury Street. It will happen on August 7 between 10:30 AM and 11:45 AM. If participants are late, they are asked to head along Salisbury Street, away from the Justice Center, to catch up.
