Raleigh talent to perform beloved tale

A group from Raleigh is putting on a production of a classic story in late April.

Cinderella tells the story of a girl who is mistreated by her stepsisters and stepmother. She dreams of change and going to the ball. The Fairy Godmother steps in to help, sending Cinderella, and eventually the prince, on a journey of discovery, perseverance, and love.

The story was originally written and published in 1634 in Italy, drawing inspiration from a first century tale. The version that is still used today followed in 1697, thanks to author Charles Perrault. Another popular iteration comes from the Grimm Brothers, being released in 1812.

The ballet’s music was composed by Sergei Prokofiev, with the choreography originally coming from Enrico Cecchetti, Marius Petipa, and Lev Ivanov.

This new production is being put on by the Carolina Youth Ballet. The venue will be the Fletcher Opera Theater. The space is a part of the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets, which are sold through Ticketmaster, range from $36.87 to $49.22 for each of the two performances. Many dance shows are promoted using techniques like flyer printing. The Raleigh show will take place on April 24th at 6:30pm and on April 25th at 12:00pm. The doors to the venue will open up an hour prior to the start time for each date.
