What's Happening in Raleigh, NC…

A mid-May event is taking place in Raleigh and will be an experience for fans of the Japanese phenomenon of anime.

Animazement is a convention from the Triangle Area Anime Society. Originating in 1997, the event brings together celebrity guests, panels, vendors, gaming spaces, karaoke, dancing, and cosplay, all from the world of anime.

Guests attending the 2026 edition of the convention include Hirokai Hirata, Reagan Murdock, Hakusui Ogiyama, Norm Nakamura, Shinichiro Watanabe, Toshio Furukawa, and Koki Endo. Autographs are available at varying times and prices depending on the guest.

Both a beginner and an advanced workshop will be available for a separate fee, with the focus being the shamisen – a Japanese stringed instrument.

Cultural experiences including musical, dance, and comedy performances will be available to guests. Panels covering the Japanese language, aspects of the culture, living and traveling in the country, and the art of the Japanese tea ceremony will also take place, making the convention educational as well as entertaining.

Tickets are $77.64, with site fees and sales taxes included. Purchases are available through Eventbrite. Full weekend passes also grant access to a pre-show event on Thursday, May 21.

The convention is taking place on May 22, 23, and 24. All three days start at 9:00am. The first two wrap up at 10:30 pm, and the third ends at 6:00 pm.
