Document shreds are often useful events, but Raleigh will be hosting one that boasts a special Halloween twist.
The city’s Solid Waste Services has invited residents to be part of its 2026 Shred and Dead Event, which will help to keep people’s personal information secure, without even a ghost of a chance it might be misused. It will be held at the Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Facility.
There will be staff on site to lend a hand when it comes to disposing of their materials, and everyone is asked to use the main entrance for visitors. The function will follow a drive through model with personnel directing the traffic through the various stations. Along with the document shredding, there will be an opportunity to dispose of small appliances, DVDs, and other materials to keep them out of local landfills. Battery collection will be part of the day, with lithium ion and alkaline types accepted.
To help maximize the impact of the day, the public can drop off their old technology to be refurbished for use in North Carolina. Organizers of a large outdoor function like this can partner with a poster printing company, which will be happy to prepare signage that keeps everything organized.
Raleigh’s Shred and Dead will help to make disposing of household documents and other waste frightfully fun on Sunday, October 25. The first drop-offs can be made at 9:00 am.
