Virtual walkathon to raise money in April

The Pretty in Pink Foundation plans to generate funds for breast cancer patients through its virtual walkathon. The event will begin next month, and anyone in Raleigh is free to join.

The Pretty in Pink Foundation was founded in 2006 to support North Carolinian women fighting breast cancer. The walkathon is hosted annually, and this year’s event is its 15th anniversary.

The walkathon will take place over a 15-day period, and entrants will either walk or run 15 miles. It is up to entrants how they want to schedule and complete the challenge. Once they finish the walkathon, entrants are encouraged to submit their progress on the race website, and to include some selfies of their walks.

Though not mandatory, the foundation also asks that participants leave a donation or help with fundraising. The goal for this year’s walkathon is $5,000, and all donations will go towards local breast cancer patients who require financial support. The foundation looks to provide uninsured or underinsured women with potentially life-saving treatment. Top fundraisers will also be given Promotional Products, including gift cards and swag Bags.

The event will start next Thursday, April 1 and will finish on April 15. The last day for registration is Wednesday, March 31. Anyone interested in participating can register on the event's RunSignup page for $15.
