Raleigh library makes national top 10

The James B. Hunt Library, located in Raleigh on the campus of North Carolina State University, has been honored by the College Raptor comparison website.

The site, which helps prospective students view colleges against one another and then select their favorite, has named the Hunt Library one of the ‘Most Amazing College Libraries in the U.S.’ The site named only 10 libraries to its list, with facilities as prestigious as the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University among the others.

College Raptor described the Hunt Library as “spacious”, and “high tech”, while also noted its extensive collections of materials in the fields of the sciences, as well as engineering. Raptor was further impressed by the fact that the Books are retrieved by a robotized system. The site also praised the library's spaciousness, which allows students to spread out and study independently.

Last year, the library won another honor, as it was named among the 14 most beautiful libraries on earth. Opened in 2013 and named for a former North Carolina governor the building is 460 feet long and 180 feet at its broadest point, which makes it wider and longer than a football field.

Library officials might like to work with a poster printing company to create a colorful item to display in the entrance, perhaps announcing this latest honor.
